What are you FEEDing on?

While prepping for my ZOOM away from the NEWS yoga classes last week I started considering the information I've been taking in on a daily basis. The looming uncertain Covid pandemic populates my news feed with an ever changing cause of questions, confusion and anxiety. FEED -- FEED -- FEED the word rolled around in my head.

FEED - "to give as food, to deposit, to insert, to be channeled or directed, to prey". Relentlessly rolling back and forth pinging different parts of me, this meant I needed to take a deep dive. To offer my students a space away from the NEWS I had to consider how to escape from the news. I already knew the answer - BREATH. Deep, nourishing breath. The kind that takes you on a discovery beyond your rational brain and helps you access your interior parts: your subconscious & spiritual heart. To deep dive I know I need to go a layer below what i'm initially chewing on. A layer below FEED -consuming. A layer below NOURISHING - digesting. The information we take in is assimilated into our being. I started asking myself am I consuming information or digesting it? CONSUME - "to ingest, use up a resource, absorb all of attention or energy of someone". DIGEST - "to break down, to sustain, to absorb". Information or one might take it a layer below to CONTENT; content can be used to inform, it can be used to produce data, it can be used as propaganda, essentially it can be a tool or a weapon. The content you take in: your news FEED, your instagram FEED, your facebook FEED do you simply just consume it and allow it to assimilate into the tissue of your life? To find some peace and to actually help us digest all these feeds we take in on a daily basis we need just as much time in deep nourishing breath as we do scrolling a FEED. We may have to, in this Covid season take in these various feeds. Even so I believe we can control what we do with the content we engage. We consume or digest. So babes what can you add in to your life that is nourishing? I want to encourage you to let the unhurried, slow and steady breath enter your soul to be metabolized sending love, peace, worth, wisdom and hope as nourishment for your heart, mind and body. You can tell the difference between what sustains you and what is void of any value. "To know much and taste nothing -- of what use is that" Bonaventure
